ATEME primarily targets bandwidth sensitive markets where its technology, boasting unrivalled compression efficiency, ensures increased Quality of Experience for the final users, while reducing our customers OPEX.

 

The Broadcast Broadband business renowned solutions, including Kyrion™ family of offline and streaming encoders, powers numerous high-end digital video applications: content creation, contribution, broadcast, mobile TV, Video on Demand (VOD), IPTV. These solutions support both standard and HD content, deployed across any platform - from mobile to Ultra HD.

 

The Video Security business unit offers integrators a comprehensive portfolio of encoders and network video recorders (NVR), decoders and software players, and network supervision solutions. ATEME pioneered the adoption of MPEG4 and now H.264 on the most demanding applications, such as transportation (road traffic, train, airports) and government (military, public safety).

On top of this ATEME Consulting business unit is a unique IP-centric design center, offering our customers expertise for their innovative audio video designs, and flexible assistance to ensure cost and time-effective integration of ATEME audio video encoding and decoding libraries in their developments.

 

ATEME SA, founded in 1991, is headquartered in Bièvres near Paris, France, and operates worldwide through its distribution network. ATEME’s offices and subsidiaries are located in USA (Burbank-CA), Canada (Montreal), Japan (Tokyo) and China (Hangzhou).

Board Members

  • Michel Artières is founder, President and CEO of ATEME. Previously, Michel had directed R&D in Image Processing and Compression at French Ministry of Defence. He specifically directed research works in the field of progressive lossless compression for very high definition images, and blurred image restoration in noisy environments. Michel received his engineering degree from Supelec, Paris, France, with a specialization in signal processing.

  • Dominique Edelin is founder and COO of ATEME. Previously, Dominique had directed hardware designs for market such as telecommunication and Aeronautic. He specifically managed large designs of equipments for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles: video and data payloads acquisition, compression, methods of multiplexing and radio transmission. Dominique received his engineering degree from Supelec, Paris, France, with a specialization in electronics

  • Benoît Fouchard joined ATEME in 2001 as VP Sales. Benoit previously held key business development positions with IT supply chain specialist ModusLink, where he expanded the presence of the group in Southern and Eastern Europe. Benoit has a Master Degree from HEC, the French top business school.

  • Xavier Niel joined ATEME board in December 2006. He is Founder and Chief Strategy Officer for the Iliad Group, a dominant player in the French Internet and Telecommunications market through its ISP subsidiary, Free®. Free is the number one alternative ADSL operator in France with more than 2,278,000 subscribes as of December 31, 2006, 50% of which are effective IPTV viewers.
    He has been responsible for the Group’s major strategic developments, from the development of Internet access services to the launch of the Freebox project.

  • Incorporation of ATEME Japon KK in Tokyo
  • Launch of Kyrion family of encoders at NAB
  • Formerly Senior Director of Product Marketing for BigBand Networks, Sylvain Rivière joins ATEME as EVP marketing to implement new solutions focus for ATEME technologies and products in Broadcast and Broadband market segments
  • STE Past President Nathan Simmons joins the company as Director of Sales, Broadcast and Broadband for the US market and opens Burbank office

 

2006

  • Renowned Businessman and Visionary Founder of Free Telecom, Xavier Niel, Joins ATEME Board of Directors
  • Claude Stoffel joins ATEME as sales director for broadcast & broadband solutions, after almost 10 years spent at the European Broadcasters Union (EBU)
  • Opening of China office (Hangzhou)
  • Demonstration at NAB of the first MPEG-4 AVC HD encoding chipset

2005

  • Closing of the 2nd round of financing with XAnge Private Equity and Ventech
  • Opening of Japan office (Tokyo).
  • Demonstration at NAB of the first FPGA-based MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 encoder
  • Demonstration at IBC of MPEG-4 AVC encoding in a single FPGA
  • Launching of mixed DSP- and Power PC-based reference designs for Video Security applications

 

2004

  • Release to market of the H.264 decoder and the WM9 codec on DSP
  • New subsidiary in Montreal (Canada): ATEME-Canada, Inc
  • Nero Digital ™: The first MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 encoder available on PC
