  • In 2010 Ecuador selected the ISDB-T standard for its transition to digital terrestrial television – Ecuavisa, the leading commercial broadcaster in the country in terms of prime time audience ratings, demonstrated an early commitment to this transition project; its high definition digital service has been on air over the cities of Quito and Guayaquil since May 2013 and coverage will expand to other parts of Ecuador in the future.

ATEME's workshop in Jakarta

There is a first time for everything that we do or attempt to do. Courage and team work are always the key to doing something well even if it’s the first time. As the EMEA and AMERICAS ATEMEians have set precedence in organizing and delivering Technology Seminars cum Workshops – the APAC team followed in their footsteps and held our very first Video Compression themed Workshop. With the collaboration from Aditech Matra – our notable Channel Partner in Indonesia, ATEME APAC Team conducted a one day Seminar plus Workshop in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The event took place at a Conference Room at a very prestigious Shangri La Hotel on 20th of August 2014. After hard team work not only from the regional office but also help from the folks in HQ, we manage to have unexpected number of participants. 54 personnel from 22 different organizations and entities including but not limited to FTA broadcasters, Pay TV Operators, Content distributors and Content producers were present. Many topics related to video compression technology were discussed and presented throughout the day. A demo session and hands-on session covering both the contribution encoder decoder and KFE was part of the agenda too.

Though the principle idea of this event was part of Go To Market Strategy for APAC, the great response and participation from local players and industry experts was a very encouraging sign for ATEME’s future not only in Indonesia alone but also throughout South East Asia. An extended Q & A Session was evidence that ATEME Technology and Solutions are an eye opener and indeed attract interest to look into them in more detail. As the nation gearing up for Digital Switch Over and LTE Roll Out, the market opportunity is vast and establishing the brand and creating strong partnership is vital. In summary this has been a huge success. This is the first event for APAC and the first time in Indonesia but there will surely be many more to come in the near future. And that future looks brighter than it has ever looked.

ATEME Expands its Reach into the APAC Region, Delivers High Performance Contribution Solutions to Leading Satellite Provider

Table tennis coverage by Ward, Inc. @ Eunsook Wi – ATEME, with kind permission from SBSPARIS – August 05, 2014ATEME, a global leader in advanced video compression solutions for the broadcast industry, announced today thatWard, Inc., a provider of satellite services in Nara, Japan has selected ATEME’s Kyrion™ CM5000 and is the first satellite provider in Japan to adopt ATEME’s contribution technology to support the worldwide broadcast of sporting and other events.

News Facts:

  • Leading satellite and production services – Ward provides satellite coordination, Satellite News Gathering (SNG) and earth station services. The company delivers satellite feeds at international conferences and sporting events such as the G8 summit, the 2014 Worldwide Table Tennis Championship and the IAAF World Challenge, a global circuit of athletics competitions.
  • Wide range of supported formats – Ward works primarily with foreign broadcasters so it is critical that they use encoders that support a variety of frame rates, resolution and compression formats. The CM5000 addresses all uses cases of IP and Satellite Contribution within a unique platform and delivers support for all MPEG-2/MPEG-4 video compression standards and profiles.
  • Space-saving technology a bonus – Ward’s SNG vehicles have limited rack space and the company uses multiple encoders to uplink to two or more satellite paths simultaneously, all of them redundant. Ward considered the built-in DVB-S2 modulator in the same 1U space a bonus when choosing the Kyrion CM5000.
  • Ease of operation and customer service – Ward SNG operators prefer operating from the front panel of the device from within the vehicle and found the Kyrion CM5000 menu operations to be highly intuitive. The company was also impressed with ATEME’s strategy of incorporating customer feedback in the development of its products.
