The TITAN platform – acclaimed for its high throughput and performance in large scale file transcoding workflows – expands its feature set to include live transcoding for Converged Media

On ATEME’s IBC booth #1D70 in Amsterdam, Titan Live offers an unprecedented Converged Media transcoding solution. Its versatility, scalability, and high density performance will undoubtedly catch the spotlight. “The Titan platform already supports large scale pay-TV VOD deployments in North-America and Europe, and has already exceeded initial client expectations of projected performance and throughput,” says Remi Beaudouin, Product Marketing Manager. “Its core transcoding engine KFE (Kyrion File Encoder) is widely used to create files for web and mobile delivery. The introduction of TITAN Live adds the ability to support IP to IP live transcoding and deliver all required web TV/mobile TV profiles. This positions TITAN as a unique solution enabling the convergence of live & file-based workflows,” adds Remi Beaudouin.

As ATEME CTO Pierre Larbier explains, Titan was designed to optimize operating efficiency in large deployments. “We understand that Converged Media services are bound to scale dramatically: More channels, more profiles, higher resolutions, and rising video quality expectations as viewers take TV anywhere for granted. Titan delivers efficiencies through density, reduced power consumption, simplified maintenance, and an intuitive workflow management interface” says Pierre Larbier.

Also at IBC, visitors will be able to experience the subtle differences among various broadcast Contribution formats. The ATEME booth will display two complete chains of ATEME encoders and decoders, allowing side by side comparisons of MPEG-2 versus MPEG-4, 4:2:0 versus 4:2:2 or 8-bit versus 10-bit.

On the Distribution side, ATEME highlights its newly released AM2102 multi-channel HD encoder and SR1000 dynamic rate allocator to be combined with the MC3000 multiplexer, which will enable significant density gains for turnkey video head-ends. These new additions to the ATEME suite of best-in-class solutions demonstrate ATEME’s commitment to continued product and system architecture innovation, and can be efficiently managed through our DataMiner based open vendor management system.
