ATEME SA, a leader in MPEG-4/H.264 video compression technology has announced that content management and delivery company GlobeCast has chosen its Kyrion encoders for deployment of next generation contribution networks.

ATEME’s Kyrion video encoders are designed for a wide variety of live broadcast and contribution applications including production dailies, sports and news gathering. Based on ATEME’s bandwidth efficient H.264 compliant codec, Kyrion encoders can deliver high quality standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) video streams for broadcast contribution over IP networks at low bit rates.

GlobeCast’s contribution services include adhoc and permanent services enabling broadcasters and content owners to exchange live and off-line audiovisual content easily and in the most cost effective way possible. GlobeCast is building the next generation of contribution networks by taking advantage of IP protocol and the latest MPEG4/H264 compression technology.

The GlobeCast contribution service is using ATEME’s Kyrion video encoders to enable customers to exchange SD and HD video content within flexible metro Ethernet and IP VPN environments.

“We are very pleased to be playing such a key part in the GlobeCast contribution solution,” said Claude Stoffel, ATEME Sales Director for EMEA, “Our Kyrion encoders will enable delivery of high quality video at reduced costs over GlobeCast’s innovative network.”

“After extensive testing, we choose ATEME’s H264 encoding technology for its high quality results, low latency, software upgradability, interoperability and the company’s high flexibility in meeting our present and future needs.” says, Bernard Riera, GlobeCast’s Head of Technology Strategy.
