Few notes from a training for Polish Public Television in Warsaw

ATEME trainning for TVPLast month, on January 30 at the initiative of our Polish partner DTS, we had the opportunity to speak at the TVP* Academy, in Warsaw. The main objective of the meeting was a presentation of ATEME, its new products and evolution to TVP technical employees.

Up to now, our partner DTS gave presentations of ATEME devices on its premises and in general to people interested in a specific topic. This time, it was different. Wiling to present ATEME’s devices to a wider group of people, Stanislaw and Krzysztof Lubinscy, owners of DTS, prepared a workshop dedicated to TVP. The proposal was welcomed with enthusiasm, and many attendees from TVP and Polish Radio spent half a day learning about ATEME and its technology.

ATEME was represented by Xavier Gentric, Northern Europe Sales Manager in charge of Poland. He started with a general introduction on ATEME, followed by a presentation of ATEME’s state of the art in video compression technology: new codec around the corner, Ultra HD trends, contribution and OTT news. Many questions were raised about HEVC, DVB-S3, OTT with a 4K hot topics. When asked about ATEME strategy in Poland Xavier Gentric said:

“We are going to face a new wave of innovations in technology, namely HEVC, this new codec would be required by the industry to enable the introduction of 4K and better multiscreen offer. The Polish market is dynamic, it was a pioneer in the satellite, IPTV and OTT field, significant investments have been made in the past 15 years, so it is natural that ATEME would like to be considered as a leader in terms of technical expertise”.

It was a very interesting workshop from many perspectives, academic study, future trends, new applications, impacts on TVP, and we would like to express our genuine gratitude to DTS for making it happen !

*TVP-Telewizja Polska S.A., the only public broadcaster in Poland, is broadcasting 13 channels among which 9 in DTT.
