News from Singapore

BroadcastAsia’s International Conference & Exhibition is undeniably Asia’s main event and a point of contact for the broadcasting and entertainment industries. The fair has been attracting visitors from all over the world for the last 19 years. This year ATEME was one of 700 exhibitors at this event which brought together 12000 participants from 90 different countries. These attendees came to learn about new developments and technology in their respective fields and to create relationships with current and future business partners.

BroadcastAsia is both a conference and an exhibition. The conference theme this year was “Discover the Right Business Model to Harness Technology and Monetize Content”. Many subjects were discussed, among them OTT, second screen, multiscreen, content distribution. Our colleague and friend, Pierre LARBIER spoke on more than one occasion during the show’s official conferences. He participated in a power panel entitled “Overcoming Challenges Faced When Converting to Digital and HD Broadcasting and Next Steps”. The conference covered transition from SD to HD and beyond. In several of Asia’s regions transmission of TV is still using analog signal. The panelists addressed the question on why and how to make digital transition in Asia.We were very proud to see Pierre speaking about HEVC and UHDTV. During the conference related to those topics, Pierre shared his knowledge about the HEVC standard for UHDTV. He presented ATEME’s newest UHDTV experimentation conducted at Rolland Garrosand talked about DVB efforts which facilitate the deployment of UHDTV. And last but not least, Pierre co-moderated “Pay TV vs SVoD between complementarity and competition” panel. The question was about the strategy the pay-tv operators should use in order to get along with new services available on the market.

Visitors at ATEME's booth

Going back to the exhibition, it has been the second time that ATEME participated at this key regional broadcasts event. The entire APAC Sales & Presales team was involved with great support from HQ. It was an excellent show for ATEME demonstrating not only our cutting edge technology but our leadership in innovation. Our EBU endorsed 4K FIFA World Cup encoder – decoder was a hot topic and attracted huge interest from the show’s attendees. Many customers and visitors stopped by to talk about our Kyron’s video Contribution solution, TITAN Live and File transcoding platforms as well. They were eager to learn more on our latest successes in 4K video contribution with FIFA WC and 4K distribution BroadcastAsia show wrapped up last Friday, and judging by several key meetings at the booth and leads collected from the show, it’s been a tremendous success for all of us at ATEME. There is no doubt, with such an event that we are reinforcing our presence in the Asia Pacific market.
