PARIS, DENVER, SINGAPORE, SYDNEY, September 21, 2021 – ATEME, the leader in video delivery solutions for broadcast, cable TV, DTH, IPTV and OTT, and World Cinema (WCI), a market leader in in-room entertainment and wi-fi technologies for the hotel sector, today announced they have joined forces to launch the WorldVue® Video-on-Demand (VOD) solution for hotels. This enables the major hotel chains and hospitality groups in North America to offer the latest in-room guest infotainment VOD services, and to pave the way for further non-linear TV and video services.

ATEME has worked closely with the WCI R&D team to help integrate its advanced Flamingo headend technology into WCI’s customizable WorldVue VOD platform, which is now fully tested and ready for immediate rollout.

Flamingo is ATEME’s software-based IPTV head-end technology that securely delivers live and time-shifted TV, VOD and radio content captured from digital, satellite, cable, terrestrial, HDMI, IP or Web sources, to set-top boxes, connected TVs, PCs, tablets or smartphones over an IP-based, coaxial or wireless network.

The integration of Flamingo means the WCI WorldVue platform now relies on future-proof technology to scale its VOD services to thousands of users. It also enables the development of other non-linear services that hotels and their guests might request in the near future – such as pause TV, replay and nPVR.

The Flamingo-powered WorldVue platform will be demonstrated at this year’s Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC) in Dallas, TX, from 27th to 30th September, in the WCI Booth (#2005). ATEME VP North America Strategy and Market Development, Dave Brass, will be present at the show to answer questions.

Commenting on the reasons for selecting the ATEME solution, ”We wanted a solution to offer the same, if not better, viewing experience that our increasingly tech-savvy hotel guests have now become used to in their own homes. ATEME’s Flamingo meets all our functional requirements reliably, in a software format that enables hardware flexibility. It also includes a set of APIs to allow for future innovations and can scale to support thousands of simultaneous connections. This gives me great confidence that we have selected the right partner,” said Nick Jones, EVP and Chief Operating Officer at WCI.

Thibaut Boissot, Solution Marketing Manager for Enterprise Markets for ATEME, said: “We are delighted to have been selected to help WCI deliver on our shared vision for the future of guest infotainment. We are very much looking forward to building a long-term relationship with WCI that helps keep them at the forefront of the sector.”
