As a broadcaster, when making the move to NEXTGEN TV, you want a flexible solution with greater efficiency and more functionality. Something that works with traditional standards and integrates everything you need to simplify the transition to ATSC 3.0. And if it helps reduce energy consumption and costs, even better. With the collaboration of its expert partner ENENSYS, Ateme has found the solution to achieve greater NEXTGEN TV efficiency with the Video Headend Pack.
Getting Organized and Going Green
To build your video headend, you have a variety of solutions you want and need to use, yet juggling everything separately increases inefficiency. You’re looking for a denser all-in-one solution that can expand and easily integrate with future needs as your business evolves. Not only that, but you recognize your responsibility to create a cleaner world for the next generations. So while your business is evolving, you’re also searching for ways to use fewer servers and cumbersome products and go greener.
Ateme and ENENSYS Create a Modularity in a Frame
To help you accomplish this, it’s all about bringing tools together, especially through innovative partnerships. Ateme uses an internal tool, the Appliance Deployer. This integrates our terrestrial video headend (VHE) solutions with the gateway and signaling solutions from ENENSYS. Ateme’s software contribution solution TITAN Edge + our transcoders TITAN Live + our Statmux + the ENENSYS SmartGate ATSC broadcast gateway and MediaCast ATSC signaling and datacasting server solutions = an all-in-one solution in a single appliance — the Video Headend Pack.
Traditionally, each application has its dedicated server. However, Ateme creates a unified platform where all components of the headend run on the same server. In other words, you get a single appliance with dedicated, bundled software. And you don’t have to deal with the set up and integration. You get a bundle that is ready to be deployed.
The Price is Right for Innovative Solutions
With NEXTGEN TV, you can provide an unprecedented immersive user experience with outstanding images, featuring Ultra HD 4K Video and High Dynamic Range (HDR), as well as increased sound quality. NEXTGEN TV is also designed for hybrid delivery of video services over broadcast and broadband networks. And it enables datacasting: an opportunity for your free-to-air services to personalize the user experience and better engage your viewers.
As part of the Video Headend Pack, MediaCast ATSC enables viewers to choose from a wide selection of services. It generates and delivers ATSC 3.0 signaling over the ROUTE transport protocol for service discovery and description information. It also ingests program schedules from TITAN and GraceNote to generate the ATSC 3.0 Electronic Service Guide (ESG) over ROUTE. In addition, it delivers datacasting services and broadcast applications, EAS services, and DRM data.
The ENENSYS SmartGate ATSC broadcast gateway receives all the linear TV services, signaling, ESG data, and datacasting services to create the Studio-to-Transmitter Link Transport Protocol (STLTP) streams for ATSC 3.0 transmission.
Next, the Ateme NextGen Statmux receives the Variable Bit Rate (VBR) live streams from the TITAN transcoders. It adjusts each bitrate with statistical multiplexing over the robust ROUTE protocol. This helps it achieve 20% efficiencies compared statmuxed streams sent over the commonly used DASH protocol.
All in all, the easy-to-install Video Headend Pack simplifies your workflow and allows you to deploy your NEXTGEN TV services within hours.
Future-proof Your System with the Video Headend Pack
